Masterpass v7 is the new, simple, convenient way to pay online backed by the multi-tiered security of MasterCard. It is the perfect combination of safety and convenience.

As part of Nochex commitment to increasing the range of payment options available to consumers, as well as improving transaction conversion rates for Merchants, we can announce an addition to our developing network of payment options: Masterpass v7.

During the week commencing Monday 28th January 2019, all Nochex Merchants will be enrolled for Masterpass v7 (unless an opt-out is requested via e-mail to Merchant Support).

Nochex Merchants do not need to do anything in order for the enrollment to take place. The change is seamless and the appearance of your payment pages will be unchanged. There is no extra charge for this service.

About Masterpass

Masterpass is a digital wallet that securely stores consumers’ card details within MasterCard’s market leading wallet technology. The consumer will still use a card to make the payment, however they will not need to enter the full card details for each payment but will instead simply select the card from the Masterpass digital wallet that they have activated. Why adopt Masterpass v7?

Adopting Masterpass v7 means Merchants and their consumers will be ready for the forthcoming EMVco (Europay / Mastercard / Visa) global industry online payment standard known as Secure Remote Commerce (SRC).

What do Merchants need to do to ensure that they are ready for SRC?

If Merchants are using the latest version of Masterpass v7, they will benefit from a simpler migration to this new industry standard. Masterpass envision that a single, interoperable industry-standard button, backed by the major card schemes will enable Merchants enrolling for the first time to integrate more quickly than before.

So, what is Secure Remote Commerce (SRC)?

SRC is an initiative recently introduced by EMVCo to streamline and tokenise remote digital payments for consumers, and to simplify the adoption for all market participants. It is the new global standard of eCommerce payments. Say goodbye to multiple methods!

Why is this happening?

To put it simply, it will make it easier and more secure for consumers to pay online. SRC will:

  • Bring consistency and convenience to paying online
  • Give online shoppers a single ‘universal’ checkout button, no matter which card they are choosing to pay with

Masterpass has learned that consumers want an easy one-click experience to be consistent across all online checkouts. A single button will give consumers a recognisable, streamlined checkout experience across different retailers, devices and browsers, regardless of their bank.

What are the main benefits?

Prepare for a less confusing, more secure online payment experience with fewer steps at checkout, which both Nochex and Masterpass believe will have a positive effect on conversion rates.

How will Masterpass v7 help to ensure I am ready for SRC?

Using the latest version of Masterpass v7, you will benefit from a simpler migration to this new industry standard. Masterpass envision that a single, inter-operable industry-standard button, backed by the major card schemes will enable merchants enrolling for the first time to integrate more quickly than before.

Further information

Just like EMV chip has brought security to the physical world of card transactions, tokenisation everywhere is critical to secure the digital world. Today, nearly 75% of all cards globally are ready to be tokenised.

A token-only world is within reach, and SRC will support this by building on the tokenisation standards. It renders the credentials useless to fraudsters and reduces the risk for merchants. Critically, it has the potential to provide consumers with visibility into where their tokenised card details are stored and how their data is used.

Masterpass will deliver peace of mind for consumers, whatever payment card they choose to pay with. In SRC, these security efforts with merchants, digital wallets and web platforms will be complemented by EMV 3DS authentication, biometrics, AI-based fraud detection and monitoring services.
