It’s been a busy month for Nochex, our partners, and our customers, as online payment requirements gain traction in the run-up to Christmas. We know developers and retailers will be working even harder and putting in more hours than ever before. As a result, we wanted to give everyone a chance to take a break from the grind with a fun science fiction movie puzzle.

To celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated Ghostbusters and Matrix films this winter, we created a visual puzzle packed with clues to 18 famous and classic sci fi films. If you’re anything like us and our team of techies here at Nochex, you’ll be a big fan of all things geek, sci fi, and pop culture. Although we are passionate about our jobs, we do enjoy a bit of escapism from the world of coding, numbers, and complex formulae.

As such, we’ve created a space-themed graphic to test movie buffs knowledge.

There are 18 classic sci fi films hidden in this visual teaser:

  • 12 Monkeys
  • The Matrix
  • Star Trek
  • Transformers
  • Star Wars
  • Planet of the Apes
  • Inception
  • ET
  • Back to the future
  • Wall-E
  • Avatar
  • Sunshine
  • Donnie Darko
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Gravity
  • Alien
  • Terminator
  • Ghostbusters

How did we do it?

We collated some of the most popular science fiction films and worked with an illustrator to design a tricky brainteaser that challenges puzzlers to spot 18 classic sci-fi films hiding in a space scene. Visual clues were hidden amongst the scene that give a nod to the famous film. The challenge is whether you can identify all the clues and name the movie that inspired it. It’s the latest brainteaser fast-testing brainpower and memory which also taps into the growing appetite for science fiction films.

The challenge

Techies solve challenges in their sleep. So, what better way to test our puzzle than on a community of experienced developers. We want to challenge developers to solve the puzzle under timed conditions. The current record to find all 18 standing at an impressive 1 minute 40 seconds. Can you beat the top 10% of people and find all 18 films in under 4 minutes?

Why did we do it?

We know how important it is to develop close relationships with our developers and retailers, and that’s why we wanted to create this fun puzzle, just one small thing to bring us together, that isn’t always about work.
